The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Daily Star - First Lady Honors Winners Of Children Music Contest

BEIRUT: To mark Children’s Day on Saturday, first lady Wafaa Sleiman honored the young winners of the 2010 music competition during a ceremony held at the presidential palace in Baabda. The competition was organized by the National Committee for Lebanese Children and the Lebanese National Higher Conservatory of Music. The winning children presented a show during the celebration and played several musical instruments before receiving honorary shields from Sleiman, who praised them for their achievements and told them to hold on to their talents. “There is nothing more beautiful than to see our children’s talents bloom in the fields of culture, arts and creativity. They are the promise of a bright future,” Sleiman said. – The Daily Star
