By The Daily Star

BEIRUT: A workshop on children’s rights and protection was launched on Monday under the patronage of First Lady Wafaa Sleiman for the occasion of Children’s Day in Lebanon. The workshop was organized by the Higher Council for Childhood within the Social Affairs Ministry and was held at the campus of the Sagesse University. It discussed legislation and rights concerning children, children and the media, and children’s health, education and learning. It also tackled parental guidance, international treaties and social protection for children, and it tried to find solutions to difficult realities such as child neglect and homeless children. First Lady Sleiman called for including civic education in the media and in curriculums. Social Affairs Minister Salim Sayegh, meanwhile, said his main goal was to ensure that children’s rights become a national priority. – The Daily Star
