The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Social Affairs' Minister Wael Abou Faour pledged full support for the disabled through their empowerment in the private sector.

Abou Faour's pledge came during his marking of the 30th anniversary of the launching of the Union for the disabled at UNESCO Palace on Sunday. Leading Union representatives from all walks of life and from all over the country attended the event.

Minister Abou Faour revealed plans designed for the improvement of the lot of the disabled in conjunction with the Labor Ministry. He suggested immediate implementation of special mechanisms already agreed upon by their respective ministries.

Also taking the word at the behest of the disabled, Hasan Mrouwwah retorted angrily that societal and governmental premeditated marginalization of the disabled is impermissible and that all disabled people would fight back and would stop at anything in pursuit of their legitimate rights.
