President Michel Sleiman, currently on a visit to northern city of Tripoli, asserted Sunday that the cabinet is in full compliance with funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) and fulfilling international resolutions, the National News Agency reported.
The STL, probing the 2005 assassination of PM Rafik Hariri and another 22 victims, held its first hearing last Friday. Four members of Hezbollah were accused of the murders, stirring a nationwide dispute between March 8 Hezbollah affiliates, and March 14 Hariri supporters.
"We criticized the tribunal at times due to some of its mistakes which cost it a little of its credibility," said Sleiman, "it now has to work to win back its integrity, and we are always with international decisions."
In other news, Sleiman lauded bilateral relations with China, which kicked off forty years ago.
Domestically, the President gave credit to the non-discriminatory nation-wide effort of Works Minister Ghazi Aridi. He assured Lebanese that the cabinet was serious about accomplishing the railway project as well as Rene Mouawad Airport in Qoleiyat.
