Prisoners’ families block Beirut-Damascus highway
Dozens of families of Lebanese prisoners burned tires on Sunday, blocking the international highway leading to Damascus for a short time, NOW Lebanon’s correspondent reported.
However, the Lebanese army and Internal Security Forces have reopened the highway.
NOW Lebanon’s correspondent said the families called on Interior Minister Marwan Charbel to improve the prisoner’s living conditions.
In August, Lebanon’s parliament decided to not reduce the length of a “prison year” to nine months, which sparked outrage.
