July 28, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Hezbollah does not care if it pushes Lebanon to not abide by international law, Khodor Habib says

Lebanon First bloc MP Khodor Habib told As-Sharq radio on Wednesday that Hezbollah does not care if it forces Lebanon to not abide by international law.

His comment comes as a possible reference to the party calling for the country to reject a Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) indictment against Hezbollah members.

This comes after Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said that the tribunal would indict his party’s members for the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

All the Lebanese have the right to know who assassinated Rafik Hariri, Habib said, adding that there will be no compromises over the issue.

Habib added that all the parties were in consensus over the STL in 2006, saying that Nasrallah’s latest speeches against the tribunal surprised everyone. This comes after the Hezbollah chief questioned the credibility of the STL earlier in July, calling it an Israeli project designed to create sectarian conflict in the country.

The MP also described as clear PM Saad Hariri’s Saturday speech that there should be no compromises over justice and the tribunal.

Hariri’s speech came during the Future founding conference in BIEL, where he was elected as the head of the Future Movement.
