July 27, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Sayyed Hussein: Cabinet to discuss forming ministerial commission to monitor STL

Minister of State Adnan as-Sayyed Hussein told As-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper in an interview published on Tuesday that the cabinet will be discussing on Wednesday the possibility of forming a ministerial commission to monitor the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

This comes after Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah on Sunday called for a commission to investigate the issue of false witnesses in the tribunal.

Sayyed Hussein also said that it is important to follow up on the tribunal, particularly since the upcoming phase will witness numerous summits between Arab leaders that lead to political developments.

The issue of the STL will be discussed during the national dialogue session on August 19 if the participants approve adding it to the agenda, he said.
