The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Judge requests death penalty for 23 people, July 15, 2014



Military Court Judge Fadi Sawwan on Monday requested the death penalty for 23 people charged with terrorism, including Abdallah Azzam Brigades commander Naim Abbas and Jamal Daftardar.

Nine among them are detained, and others are fugitives.

The judge also requested the death penalty for Joumana Hmeid, the woman who was driving a car laden with explosives in the Beqaa town of Arsal. Hmeid is in the custody of the security forces.


Among the names is Al-Nusra Front commander Sirajeddin Zureiqat, who is still at large.
