July 18, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Habib slams Nasrallah’s STL speech

Lebanese Forces bloc MP Farid Habib said on Sunday that Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s labeling of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) an Israeli project is insulting to the families of the March 14 figures who were killed in bombings in the past years, the National News Agency (NNA) reported.

“Hezbollah’s premature targeting against the STL’s indictment was expected because revealing the truth does not conform with the party’s course in building its own state with its known dimensions at the regional or religious level,” Habib said.

Nasrallah said in a speech on Friday that an indictment by the STL is an Israeli project designed to target Hezbollah by stirring up sectarian strife in Lebanon.

The STL is probing the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Media reports say the tribunal’s indictment will likely be issued before the end of 2010. There are also reports that some Hezbollah members might be named in the indictment.
