The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Naharnet - Mashnouq: Nasrallah's Statements are a Political Position that Don't Bind Anyone - October 30, 2010


Lebanon First bloc MP Nohad al-Mashnouq stated that Hizbullah leader Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah's latest statements on the Special Tribunal for Lebanon are a political position that are not binding to the Lebanese.
He told Asharq al-Awsat Saturday: "The position is binding to Hizbullah and its supporters, but it does not bind the state, the majority of the Lebanese population, and the international community."

"Nasrallah wanted to get ahead of the results of the Saudi-Syrian talks on Lebanon, especially since there is information that Saudi King Abdullah's advisor, Prince Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah, is likely to head to the Syrian capital within the next 72 hours," he said.

"Lebanon is a founding member of the United Nations, therefore, it is bound to its agreements," Mashnouq added.

The MP stressed: "The current government's ministerial statement, which Hizbullah is a part of, reaffirms Lebanon's commitment and respect to international law and agreements," including the formation of the STL
