July 9, 2010 - Now Lebanon - Succariyeh: STL will not dare indict Hezbollah members

Loyalty to the Resistance bloc MP Walid Succariyeh told Al-Manar television on Friday that the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) will not dare to name any of Hezbollah’s members in its upcoming indictments related to the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

The STL is politicized and aims to create divisions between the Lebanese, he added.

Succariyeh also said that Israel’s reports on Hezbollah’s arms depots in South Lebanon “could only be believed by naïve people.”

This comes after Israel's military on Wednesday claimed Hezbollah is preparing for war in the populated border areas of South Lebanon, using aerial images as evidence, Israeli newspaper Haaretz reported.

According to the daily, “Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Colonel Ronen Merli revealed previously classified photographs to show what he said was a unit of 90 Hezbollah fighters operating in the southern village of Khiam, where they were storing weapons close to hospitals and schools.”

“[The report] is a lie fabricated by Israel,” the MP said, adding that Tel Aviv will not likely attack Lebanon “because it is aware it will be defeated.”
