The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - March 8 to escalate campaign against STL, report says - October 28, 2010









Following Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah’s Thursday press conference, March 8 parties will take escalating steps demanding the abolition of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) on the grounds that it is unconstitutional and illegal, Al-Liwaa newspaper reported on Thursday.
Hezbollah’s media relations department announced that Nasrallah will speak about the STL on Thursday evening.
Tension is high in Lebanon amid reports that the STL might soon issue its indictment for former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 murder. There are fears that should the court indict Hezbollah members, it could lead to clashes similar to those of the 2008 May Events.
March 8 coalition politicians have called for the abolition of the tribunal, arguing that it has been politicized and misled
