After 16 days of non stop hunger and water strike, Dr. Abedelmeneem Moussa Ibrahim, the Sudanese human rights activist, stopped his hunger strike. He managed to achieve his goals. He wanted to raise public and media awareness on racism against migrants workers in Lebanon. Human rights organizations and activists supported his cause and media covered largely his struggle.
He wanted to put pressure on the Lebanese authorities to free the Sudanese arbitraly detained in Lebanese prisons. Minister of Interior Ziad Baroud promised to do all his possible to resolve the situation. Finally, docteur Moussa wanted the Committee of the Sudanese Cultural Club to be elected in a democratic way in order to protect the Sudanese community. The elections took place on sunday, 10 th of october.
Despite the hunger and thirst, despite the harassment from the police on daily basis, the activist stood up for human rights in Lebanon.
