BEIRUT - Saint Joseph University (USJ) has been following, three years ago, through its social aid department, a young adult prisoner in Roumieh. He has all courses thanks to the scholars who used to move to the prison for that purpose. He also had regular contact with a USJ social assistant.

According to the USJ, "The student whose sentence is still so long, has brilliantly continued his academic career in International Affairs, at the History department at the Arts and Human Sciences Faculty, and yet, obtained his Bachelor degree last June".

The USJ hoped to award him his diploma during an official celebration, in the presence of the University officials and Minister Ziad Baroud. It asked and obtained the authorization of the Interior ministry to that end. The date and place of the ceremony had been scheduled. it would take place on October 16, 2010, at 11:30, in the Medical Sciences Campus Hall, Damascus Street.
