The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - As-Safir: Hariri will refuse transferring false witnesses issue to Justice Council - October 12, 2010









As-Safir newspaper reported on Tuesday that Prime Minister Saad Hariri will likely refuse the transferring of the issue of false witnesses to the Justice Council.The PM will likely support regular judicial authorities, and not the Justice Council, handling the matter instead, the paper added.Tuesday’s cabinet session is expected to address the issue of witnesses who gave false testimonies to the international investigation of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination. Several March 8 figures have called for the issue to be referred to the Justice Council.An-Nahar newspaper reported on Tuesday that the Justice Council is not specialized to deal with the issue of false witnesses.
