The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Cassese condemns attack on STL investigators - October 28, 2010









In a statement issued Wednesday evening, Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) President Antonio Cassese condemned “in the strongest of terms” a violent attack against STL investigators in Dahiyeh on Wednesday morning.A group of women charged at STL investigators at a Beirut gynecology clinic in Dahiyeh on Wednesday and grabbed a briefcase from them, AFP reported.The incident is a “deplorable attempt to obstruct justice,” the statement said, adding that “those who carried out this attack must know that violence will not deter the STL, a court of law, from fulfilling its mandate.”The statement added that Cassese “will report this regrettable incident to the government of Lebanon and to UN Secretary-General [Ban Ki-moon].”
