The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Naharnet - STL Appoints Canadian Marten Youssef as Spokesperson - April 5, 2011

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon has appointed Marten Youssef as spokesperson, STL's press office announced Tuesday.
Marten who was born and raised in Egypt, is a Canadian citizen, the press office noted, adding that he has worked as a journalist in the Middle East and Africa, as well as in Canada.
"During his three years in Abu Dhabi, Marten was the senior courts and justice reporter for The National newspaper. Most recently he has worked for The Globe and Mail and The Canadian Press," the press office added.
As the STL spokesperson Marten will be the point of contact for all members of "the Lebanese and Arab press," the press office said. "He will speak on behalf of Chambers, the Defense Office and the Registry."
The press office noted that STL Chief of Public Affairs Crispin Thorold was in charge of communication with the international media, while Sophie Boutaud de la Combe, spokesperson for the Office of the Prosecutor, was in charge of answering any questions relating to the work of the OTP.
