iloubnan - Delay is due to dispute over forming the cabinet pre or post STL indictment, Pharaoun says - May 14, 2011

Outgoing State Minister Michel Pharaoun said on Saturday disputes between the new majority camps over the distribution of shares and interests are only superficial.

The real disputes is over forming the cabinet before or after the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) indictment is issued. Some parties in the new majority want to finalize the formation process before the indictment to continue their coup on the Doha agreement and the STL through a ministerial statement that declares Lebanon uncommitted to its international obligations, while others prefer to form the cabinet after the release of the indictment as they refuse to disrespect Lebanon's international obligations.

Pharaoun told 'Voice of Lebanon' (93.3) radio that both camps in the new majority await a green light from foreign parties. "The new majority has linked the situation in Lebanon to developments in Syria and this surrendered once again to the Syrian hegemony," he said.
