The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - General amnesty “not possible” now, says Najjar - May 18, 2011

Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar told LBC television on Wednesday that “issuing general amnesties is not possible in Lebanon now.”
He also voiced the importance of increasing the number of jails and expediting trials.
Inmates at Roumieh’s Prison – which is one of the biggest prisons in the Middle East and holds 4,500 inmates despite being built to hold only 1,500 –demanded amnesty and better conditions during riots in April.
