Following are summaries of some of the main stories in a selection of Lebanese newspapers Tuesday. The Daily Star cannot vouch for the accuracy of these reports.
Al-Akhbar
Dose of support from Hezbollah and Jumblatt to government
Hezbollah and MP Walid Jumblatt have been injecting support to Prime Minister Najib Mikati in the wake of a campaign launched by the March 14 forces to force him to resign before the end of November, time for Cabinet to make up its mind on the issue of funding for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.
Whether government will pay its share of the funds or not is not a new question. Funding will not pass in Cabinet. Hezbollah has clearly told Mikati so; Hezbollah ministers won’t vote and neither will the party’s allies – the Amal Movement, the Free Patriotic Movement, Marada Movement, the Lebanese Democratic Party and Tashnaq.

Al-Liwaa
STL president in Beirut tomorrow
Political bickering moved Monday to the Finance and Budget parliamentary committee over accusations made by the committee’s head, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, against former Prime Minister Fouad Siniora and the team affiliated with the late Prime Minister Rafik Hariri over what happened to the treasury in 1993.
When Kanaan refused to apologize to Siniora for his accusations which proved false, seven opposition MPs walked out of the meeting and announced they would continue to boycott the sessions.
Al-Liwaa has learned that Siniora plans to file a lawsuit against Kanaan.
Meanwhile, the president of the STL will visit Lebanon Wednesday for talks with Mikati on the need for Lebanon to pay its share of the fund.
Sources told Al-Liwaa that there are renewed talks about creating a buffer zone on both sides of the Syria-Lebanon border, at the same time as talks of a similar buffer zone along the Turkey-Syria border take place.
An-Nahar
Mikati postpones debate on STL funding till Nov. 30
The complexities facing Prime Minister Najib Mikati will likely postpone discussion of the issue of Lebanon's share of funding for the international tribunal during Friday’s Cabinet session.
Ministerial sources told An-Nahar that the STL funding issue will not top the agenda of Cabinet’s meetings this week.
They said Mikati insists that STL funding will be discussed during a Cabinet meeting to be held on Nov. 30 after his return from a visit to the Vatican.
