The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Abu Faour reiterates support for STL, November 2, 2011

Minister of Social Affairs Wael Abu Faour on Wednesday reiterated his National Struggle Front’s support for the Special Tribunal for Lebanon probing the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
“We announced more than once that we support the STL because… we cannot take the [deaths of people killed in assassinations] for granted,” the National News Agency quoted Abu Faour as saying.
He also said that “Lebanon has no interest in being in an open confrontation with the international community, despite our full understanding for Hezbollah’s concerns.”
Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the STL in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. However, the Shia group strongly denied the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court. PM Najib Mikati has repeatedly voiced Lebanon’s commitment to the tribunal.

Lebanon contributes 49 percent of the STL’s annual funding.
