The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Inmates’ relatives also demonstrate in Baalbek, November 1, 2011

Families of inmates in Lebanese prisons on Tuesday protested in Baalbek and called for general amnesty for prisoners, the National News Agency reported.The demonstrators also called for reducing the “prison year” to nine months instead of 12, the NNA added.Earlier on Tuesday, inmates’ relatives in Beirut blocked the main road leading to the Rafik Hariri International Airport, as well a road in the Msharrafiyyah-Shiyyah neighborhood for the same reasons.In August, Lebanon’s parliament decided against reducing the length of a “prison year” to nine months, which sparked outrage.
