NOW Lebanon- Marouni: Cabinet aims to obstruct STL’s role, November, 9, 2011

Kataeb bloc MP Elie Marouni said on Wednesday that Prime Minister Najib Mikati·s cabinet was formed “to obstruct the
role” of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).
Marouni told the Voice of Lebanon (100.5) radio station that Mikati·s cabinet belongs to Hezbollah, adding that if a vote
on paying Lebanon·s share of funding to the STL is cast in the cabinet, it will not pass.
He added that Mikati·s position on the STL is “personal” and will not be implemented, in reference to Mikati·s statements
that Lebanon is committed to the tribunal.
Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the UN-backed court in the 2005 assassination of former PM Rafik Hariri.
However, the Shia group strongly denied the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court.
Lebanon contributes 49 percent of the STL·s annual funding.
