Change and Reform bloc MP Alain Aoun told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) radio station on Tuesday that the issue of witnesses who gave false testimonies in the international investigation of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination must be dealt with as quickly as possible.
He voiced hope that the ministers would reach consensus on the matter in Tuesday’s cabinet session.
Several March 8 figures have called for the issue of false witnesses to be referred to the Justice Council.
“The [Lebanese] judiciary must deal with the matter, regardless of which authority [handles it],” Aoun added.
