The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - An-Nahar: Justice Council not specialized to deal with false witnesses issue - October 12, 2010









An-Nahar newspaper on Tuesday quoted an unnamed source as saying that the Justice Council is not specialized to deal with the issue of witnesses who gave false testimonies to the international investigation of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s 2005 assassination.Several March 8 figures have called for the issue to be referred to the Justice Council.“Referring the matter to the Justice Council is not possible because it is not [in] the council’s [jurisdiction],” the source added.Tuesday’s cabinet session is expected to address the issue of false testimonies.
