LBC television reported on Wednesday morning that a prisoner in Lebanon’s biggest jail was killed after security forces stormed the facility Tuesday night.
The report also said that another inmate in Roumieh Prison was found dead after suffering a heart attack, and added that there are unconfirmed reports of the death of a third prisoner.
LBC also reported that Interior Minister Ziad Baroud called outgoing Prime Minister Saad Hariri and briefed him over the latest development in the prison and asked him to send a delegation to report the damages in the prison.
The delegation arrived to the prison and started its work, the TV station added.
Security forces stormed Roumieh Prison on Tuesday after talks failed to secure the release of three guards detained by inmates who have for the past few day been demanding amnesty and better conditions.
