Now Lebanon - Roumieh Prison’s facilities under control, says Rifi - April 5, 2011

“Control over all of Roumieh Prison’s facilities has been [regained],” Internal Security Forces (ISF) Director General Achraf Rifi said on Tuesday.
Rifi added that regaining control over the prison was achieved by carrying out a joint operation between the ISF and the Lebanese Armed Forces.
“The [operation] is about to end,” the National News Agency (NNA) quoted Rifi as saying.
Protests in Roumieh Prison broke out on Monday for the second time in 48 hours.
Inmates at Roumieh– which is one of the biggest prisons in the Middle East and holds 4,500 inmates despite being built to hold only 1,500 – had been demanding amnesty and better conditions.
