The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

The Daily Star - Authorities destroy 490 acres of marijuana crops - August 05, 2011


BEIRUT: The Drug Control Office of the Internal Security Forces destroyed around 490 acres of marijuana plantations Thursday as part of its campaign against the illegal crop, according to the National News Agency.
The Directorate General of the ISF issued a statement saying that units from the Drug Control Office, working with local police and the Lebanese Army, destroyed 300, 90, and 100 acres of marijuana plantations in the Bekaa villages of Marjahin, Hawsh Barada, and Kneiseh respectively.
Around 31,795 acres of marijuana plantations have been destroyed since the beginning of the campaign, the statement added.
