The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Daily Star - Authorities thwart attempt to smuggle drugs into Roumieh, November 5th 2011


BEIRUT: A woman was detained over the weekend for attempting to smuggle a large quantity of psychotropic drugs into Lebanon’s largest prison complex, Roumieh.
The 27-year-old, identified by the initials F.A., was caught trying to smuggle some 4,513 psychotropic pills of various kinds to detention center B at Roumieh, security sources told The Daily Star Saturday.
Upon investigation with the woman, a Lebanese national, authorities ascertained she had been trying to smuggle the drugs to a particular inmate, identified by the initials S.A.
Further investigations into the case are under way.
