The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

BEIRUT: The National Committee for Lebanese Women and the Beirut Bar Association signed a memorandum of cooperation Wednesday as a first step in a drive to abolish discriminatory laws against women.First Lady Wafa Sleiman, who heads the committee, said that “signing the cooperation memorandum is a step forward in supporting Lebanese women’s struggle to abolish all laws that are biased against them … in order to achieve their effective participation in development and national life.”The three-year memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation between the Bar Association and the NCLW to amend discriminatory laws against women, carry out joint activities to raise Lebanese women’s awareness of their rights, exchange information on the status of women and carry out legal studies on their situation.
