The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

NOW Lebanon-Committee to discuss with Mikati plan to improve prisons , November 21, 2011

A plan directed at improving the state of Lebanese prisons will be addressed with Prime Minister Najib Mikati, said Deputy Prime Minister Samir Moqbel on Monday.
Following a meeting of the ministerial committee tasked with following up on the issue, Moqbel – who headed the sit-down – said: “This plan will be addressed with PM Najib Mikati in order to be submitted to the cabinet and then directly implemented.”
However, he did not elaborate further.
According to a statement issued by Moqbel’s office, ministers Shakib Qortbawi, Marwan Kheireddine as well as Higher Relief Commission chief General Ibrahim Bashir were among those who took part in the meeting.
