NOW Lebanon- Hamadeh: Aoun’s STL standpoint reflects Hezbollah’s, November 23, 2011

March 14 MP Marwan Hamadeh said on Wednesday that Change and Reform bloc leader MP Michel Aoun’s position vis-à-vis the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) “reflects Hezbollah’s standpoint.”
“Does Michel Aoun want be an ally of and protect those who committed crimes in Lebanon?” Hamadeh inquired during an interview with the Voice of Lebanon (100.5) radio.
Regarding the funding for the UN-backed court, the March 14 MP said that “either Prime Minister Najib Mikati secures STL’s funding , or he should [hand in his resignation].”
Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the STL for the 2005 assassination of ex-Premier Rafik Hariri. However, the Shia group strongly denied the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court. Meanwhile, Mikati has repeatedly voiced Lebanon’s commitment to the tribunal.
Lebanon contributes 49 percent of the STL’s annual funding.
