NOW Lebanon- Nahhas: Cabinet to discuss STL funding end of November , November 23, 2011

Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas said on Wednesday that the request for a treasury loan to fund the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL) will be addressed in the cabinet at the end of November.
Nahhas told the Voice of Lebanon (93.3) radio station that the cabinet will “seriously” discuss the issue of STL funding, adding that “it is time to make a decision, which is not based on narrow [interests].”
On Saturday, An-Nahar newspaper said Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi submitted to the cabinet a request for a treasury loan to subsidize the UN-backed court.
Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the STL in the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
However, the Shia group strongly denied the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court. PM Najib Mikati has repeatedly voiced Lebanon’s commitment to the tribunal.

Lebanon contributes 49 percent of the STL’s annual funding.
