NOW Lebanon- Nahhas: Mikati trying to reach consensus on STL funding , November 19, 2011

Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas said on Saturday that “Prime Minister Najib Mikati is working on [reaching] a consensus on the issue of funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL),” which is probing the assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.
Nahhas expected “positive results” on the STL funding issue, and said that “Finance Minister Mohammad Safadi’s step to submit a request for a treasury loan to fund the STL is a preparation for a decision that should be taken at a later time.”
However, Nahhas did not elaborate what the decision will be.
Four Hezbollah members have been indicted by the UN-backed court in Hariri’s assassination. However, the Shia group strongly denied the charges and refuses to cooperate with the court. PM Najib Mikati has repeatedly voiced Lebanon’s commitment to the tribunal.

Lebanon contributes 49 percent of the STL’s annual funding.
