NOW Lebanon- Roumieh inmates go on hunger strike , December 7, 2011

The National News Agency reported on Wednesday that 187 inmates from Lebanon’s Roumieh prison announced they were going on a hunger strike.
The strike is an act of protest against the officials’ failure to meet their demands for general amnesty and for reducing the one-year sentence to nine months.
The report added that one of the inmates threw on Tuesday night a non-explosive tear-gas bomb in the maintenance hall of the prison.
A number of riots have broken out this year in the facility, with prisoners demanding a series of rights.
