Now Lebanon - Abu Faour follows up on, June 5 2012

Social Affairs Minister Wael Abu Faour met with Collège Saint Joseph Director Father Antoine Nakad to discuss the issue of the teacher who allegedly sexually abused a number of his female students in the Mount Lebanon Catholic School, the National News Agency reported on Tuesday.
“[I] was informed of the measures taken by the school. The school had fired the [teacher] before the media brought up the issue. It also fired anyone whom it suspected of unintentionally or intentionally covering up [for the teacher’s acts],” Abu Faour said following the meeting.
The minister also voiced hope that in the coming weeks “measures will be implemented in all schools so such incidents do not reoccur.”
He also called for not jumping to conclusions on whether rape had been committed or not, adding that the abused students will undergo social and psychological therapy.
The NNA added that Antoine Chidiac, the head of the parents committee at the school, and the school’s lawyer attended the meeting.
