The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Order restored in Roumieh Prison, NNA reports - April 5, 2011

Order has been restored in Roumieh prison, the National News Agency (NNA) reported on Tuesday, adding that security forces heavily deployed in the prison’s courtyard.
The report added that preparations are currently  underway to repair the damage caused by the riots.
Protests in Roumieh Prison broke out on Monday for the second time in 48 hours.
The NNA also reported that security forces have reinforced their presence in all the country’s prisons.
Inmates at Roumieh– which is one of the biggest prisons in the Middle East and holds 4,500 inmates despite being built to hold only 1,500 – had been demanding an amnesty and better conditions.
