The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Rifi: No injuries in Roumieh Prison incident - April 3, 2011

Internal Security Forces Director General Achraf Rifi said in an interview published on Sunday that no one was injured during the Roumieh Prison incident.
“The demonstrators [in Roumieh Prison] did not take any hostages,” he told An-Nahar newspaper.
Rifi said the inmates have demands which we will listen to and work to implement them if they are rightful.
“If the matter, however, develops into a riot, we will intervene.”
NOW Lebanon’s correspondent reported on Saturday that a riot broke out in Roumieh Prison when prisoners began protesting cell searches.
