The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Baroud, Mirza meet following Roumieh Prison incident - April 3, 2011

Interior Minister Ziad Baroud and Attorney General Judge Said Mirza met after midnight to discuss the requests of the inmates in Roumieh Prison, according to a statement issued by the Interior Ministry on Sunday.
Mirza said he will encourage the relevant judicial authorities to speed up the interrogation and trail processes, the statement reported.
The statement added that Mirza will assign province prosecutors to check jails and file reports on the prisoners’ demands.
NOW Lebanon’s correspondent reported on Saturday that a riot broke out in Roumieh Prison when prisoners began protesting cell searches.
