The Daily Star - First group of detained Islamists released on bail - August 10, 2011

BEIRUT: The first group of detained Islamists were released from Roumieh Prison and arrived in Tripoli Tuesday evening, according to the National News Agency.
The first batch of detained Islamists, all affiliated with the Fatah al-Islam militant group, were released on a decision by State Prosecutor Judge Saeed Mirza.
The released detainees were Khodor Merhi, Samir Daoud, and Bilal al-Masri.
The three men were accompanied by lawyer Osama Shaaban, who said they are the first group of 16 detainees who will be later released on bail set at LL300,000.
Families of the detained Islamists held a protest in Tripoli Sunday, announcing the beginning of a hunger strike over Parliament’s decision not to reduce prison sentences and calling for the release of those who were arrested and detained in 2007 after three months of fighting between the Lebanese Army and Fatah al-Islam in the Palestinian refugee camp of Nahr al-Bared.
