iloubnan - Charbel presents election law on proportionality basis - August 09, 2011

Minister of Interior and Municipalities Marwan Charbel announced that he presented the election law on proportionality basis, as mentioned in the ministerial statement, to be discussed in the cabinet at the end of September and to be referred later on to the Parliament for final decision.

Charbel's remarks came following a meeting that he had with Druze spiritual leader, Sheikh Akl Naim Hassan, at Druze House, Verdun.

Charbel said that they adopted two standards in security appointments which are qualifications and seniority, wishing they would be able to obtain them both.

He added that agreement among all the Lebanese is the most important plan, expressing his optimism about officials' consciousness because they all felt the danger that surrounded Lebanon.

Charbel hoped March 14 and March 8 forces would become "one number."
