The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

Now Lebanon - Baroud praises peaceful handling of Roumieh Prison riot - April 3, 2011

Interior Minister Ziad Baroud on Sunday said that his ministry acted with restraint in dealing with the Roumieh Prison riot and did not cause any bloodshed.
“[The Interior Ministry] did its duty, especially considering the prisoners made righteous demands,” he told NBN television.
“I was careful about not giving promises that I cannot implement,” Baroud added.
A riot broke out in Roumieh Prison on Saturday when prisoners began protesting cell searches. The disobedience ended on Sunday after successful negotiations with the prisoners.
