Now Lebanon - Hariri: No compromise at expense of STL - September 24, 2010

Prime Minister Saad Hariri told An-Nahar newspaper in an interview published on Friday that “there will be no compromises made at the expense of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).”

Marada Movement leader MP Sleiman Franjieh warned on Thursday that if the STL indicts Hezbollah in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri, war will break out in the country.

Franjieh also said that he will support any March 8 coalition decision to halt Lebanon’s share of funding to the STL, “because the STL will incite sedition in the country.”

Tension ran high in Lebanon after reports said that the tribunal will soon issue its indictment. Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said in July that the STL is an Israeli project that will indict Hezbollah members.
