Now Lebanon - Hajjar: We will not allow abolishing STL - September 24, 2010

Lebanon First bloc MP Mohammad Hajjar told the Voice of Lebanon (VOL) radio station on Friday that his bloc will not allow obstructing or abolishing the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL).

“Tension ignited after [March 8 MPs] requested to halt Lebanon’s share of funding to the STL during the Budget and Finance Parliamentary Commission’s meeting [last week],” Hajjar said.

Tension ran high in Lebanon after reports said that the STL will soon issue its indictment in the 2005 assassination of former Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah said in July that the tribunal is an Israeli project that will indict Hezbollah members.
