The Lebanese Center for Human Rights (CLDH) is a local non-profit, non-partisan Lebanese human rights organization in Beirut that was established by the Franco-Lebanese Movement SOLIDA (Support for Lebanese Detained Arbitrarily) in 2006. SOLIDA has been active since 1996 in the struggle against arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and the impunity of those perpetrating gross human violations.

The Daily Star - Police arrest suspected drug dealer after shootout - February 10, 2011

BEIRUT: The Internal Security Forces engaged in a shootout with a man wanted on drug dealing charges in the Beirut suburbs highway leading to the Rafik Hariri Airport, the ISF reported Monday. Following the shootout, the ISF arrested a 38-year-old man identified by the initials of N.S. who was charged with drug dealing. According to the ISF report, the arrest took place following a violent shootout between the ISF patrol on the highway and the fleeing man. “After he [N.S.] opened fire with a Glock 9mm rifle on the patrol and wounded one of the policemen, the ISF fired back and wounded him,” the report said. The report added that N.S., who was carrying cocaine and other drug items in his car, was transferred to a nearby hospital and placed in police custody. –The Daily Star
