SIDON,
Lebanon: A predawn explosion Wednesday at a compound inhabited by Syrian workers
in south Lebanon caused some property damage.
Security
sources told The Daily Star Wednesday unknown assailants tossed a dynamite
stick at the compound in Aqibiyeh near Zahrani, causing material damage but no
casualties.
Lebanese
troops swiftly arrived at the scene following the 2 a.m. blast and launched an
investigation into the incident.
The tent-like compound,
covered with posters of Syrian President Bashar Assad, has been home for about
200 Syrian agricultural workers for the past two decades.
