The Daily Star - Greenpeace calls for Jbeil’s beach to be protected, May 30 2012

BEIRUT: Greenpeace sent a letter Tuesday to Jbeil’s mayor to suggest a new plan that would protect the city’s beach, as well as allow the municipality to establish its tourist port, the Central News Agency reported.
The environmental organization’s new proposal aims at “reducing the catastrophic effects of this port on the beach and marine life, as well as guarantee the beach’s protection as much as possible,” the letter addressed to Mayor Ziad Hawwat said. In the letter, Greenpeace suggests that the marina – which the municipality is planning to establish – be built on the northern strip of Jbeil at its border with Amchit. “This way we guarantee the protection of the beach and its safety ... and achieve tourist development for the city of Jbeil,” the letter said.
