BEIRUT:
Two unidentified Syrians kidnapped Wednesday two Lebanese farmers in the border
town of Abboudieh, north Lebanon, Lebanese security sources told The Daily
Star.
The
two farmers, identified as Mohammad Yassine al-Meree and Hamdan Mahdi Mohammad,
were working on agricultural land when the two Syrians approached them and the
snatched them before entering Syria.
The
reasons for the kidnapping were unclear.
Following the news of the
abduction, relatives of the two farmers blocked roads in Abboudieh in protest
and urged the government to help release them.
