Army arrests four suspects in rocket attack on Bekaa citizens

By The Daily Star

BEIRUT: Unidentified men launched rocket bombs and opened gunfire on a group of citizens in Oyoun Orghosh in the Bekaa during the weekend.
The Lebanese Army arrested four suspects while the Lebanese Forces (LF) party denied any involvement.
The Lebanese Army commando forces raided several houses in Oyoun Orghosh the next day and said they found one ton of hashish, illegal weapons and ammunition and they arrested four suspects.
Some media reports linked the LF to the incident, according to an LF media office statement which denied any relation with the shooting.
“March 8 media outlets are abusing a common incident similar to any daily incident that could happen in any Lebanese region,” the statement said.
The party went on to explain that, according to its sources, the incident was a security issue. “Robberies multiply in the winter in Oyoun Orghosh because many residents leave the village, which led the locals to form their own village security group.
“These security guards suspected some people passing through the region and fired gunshots at them,” the statement said.
The statement then accused March 8 of wishing to harm the party and of anticipating the results of legal investigations. – The Daily Star
