Now Lebanon - As-Sharq Al-Awsat: Bekaa kidnapping has political background - March 25, 2011

“Information so far available” on the Wednesday kidnapping of seven Estonians in the Bekaa Valley indicates a “political background,” As-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper reported on Friday.
“There is no confirmed information about the kidnappers or the abductees’ location,” the paper quoted an anonymous security source as saying.
“However, security agencies have multiple theories and do not think it unlikely that a Palestinian unit linked to the Libyan regime is behind the kidnapping.”
Hundreds of foreigners have left Lebanon due to the kidnapping, while Western states have asked their citizens to leave the country and avoid traveling there, the daily also quoted an anonymous official as saying.
Seven Estonians were kidnapped near the Bekaa city of Zahle on Wednesday after they had entered Lebanon from Syria on their bikes.
